FACE Middle East FZC (FME) and CoGri Middle East LLC (CME) reputation is growing from strength to strength as they continue to prove their proficiency as leading industrial concrete flooring specialists in the region.
Word is spreading that FACE and CoGri Middle East are the experts to call as warehouse operators recognise they do not have to tolerate poor and underperforming floors. The lack of understanding and know-how in industrial concrete floors in the region, whether in design, construction, surveying, testing or upgrades, has enabled FME and CME to grow and differentiate themselves from the competition. Through hard work and endurance, enquiries are coming in thick and fast and it is reassuring to hear first hand from clients that we have been chosen as a result of our reputation.
Some of the recent contracts won included a sizeable 65,000m2 design assignment for an air freight cargo facility in Dubai. This multi-discipline project came with many challenges for the FME design team such as accounting for 100 significant penetrations in the slab for service ducts and approximately 9,000 anchor bolts in the joint layout in the detailing. FME’s experience triumphed over these rigid parameters and presented a creative solution that met with and satisfied the client’s requirements. Phase one construction has already commenced on-site.
Other design projects included a 28,000m2 facility for the largest consumer goods company in India and an 11,000m2 facility for a clothing retailer in Lebanon. FME carried out two projects in Lebanon last year and the successful delivery of these has led to winning more contracts for the same client. Numerous design works are on the horizon in the Middle East.
In India, the final phase of floor construction for a car manufacturer is on the way where we are supervising construction and carrying out free movement surveys.
This year has also been one of the busiest years for our wire guidance service. Orders for wire guidance installation are already booked and scheduled for next year.
At SSI Schaefer Dubai HQ, in the new Dubai World Central airport Free Zone, Tom Hanks, FME and CME General Manager was invited to speak to over 100 delegates consisting mainly of warehouse managers, most of whom could relate to the challenges they face as warehouse operators mentioned during the presentation. Valuable contacts were made and work has been generated as a result for new designs and existing repairs.
The recent addition of the company’s Technical Sales Advisor, Glenn Mascarinas, has enabled us to be more responsive to enquiries as they come in and increase the number of proposal submitted. Having a dedicated person for this role means that we have been able to meet with clients at short notice and enhance FME and CME exposure in the UAE.
Recent and welcomed news to the UAE will have a significant impact on the country’s economy. Dubai has been voted by the 168-nation International Expositions Bureau in Paris that it will host the World Expo Trade Convention in 2020. Held every five years and for a period of six months, the event is said to be the 3rd largest global event after the Olympics and the World Cup, attracting millions of visitors. The World Expo has never been held in the Middle East, Africa and South East Asia in the history of the event so this is a remarkable achievement for Dubai and UAE.
The event is expected to boost the country’s economy in the next 7 years and create around 220,000 jobs according to a local source.
Competition in the state will increase which means that businesses will need to intensify their efforts or risk missing out on the opportunities that this new venture could bring. Even with an already established presence in Dubai, we have no intention in taking a back seat and will continue on our quest, as we have been since the beginning, to widen our reach for high quality industrial floor construction and promoting best practice in the region.
